RMH Begins Breast Cancer Patient Mentor Program
7/7/2011
Richland Memorial Hospital is proud to announce the formation of a new supportive mentoring program for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. The Woman to Woman program will match breast cancer patients with a mentor who is herself a breast cancer survivor. The program is designed to allow for a more personal, one-on-one supportive “network” for the newly diagnosed breast cancer patient. There will be no group meetings or events such as a support group might require, simply a mentoring friendship that gives the breast cancer patient someone that she can call for support and encouragement who has walked down the same path of treatment, fear, and questioning.
If you are interested in participating in this program either as a patient or as a mentor, please call Liesl Wingert, Outreach Specialist for Richland Memorial Hospital, for an application and more information at 395-2131, ext. 4608. Please note that if you are a breast cancer survivor and would like to be a mentor, there will be an interview and a basic training session involved.
