RMH Donates Medication Carts to IECC Nursing Program
9/14/2011
Richland Memorial Hospital recently donated 6 Medication Carts to the IECC Nursing Program. The carts will be used to give Nursing students at both Olney Central College and Lincoln Trail College, and Pharmacy Tech students at Lincoln Trail College a more realistic feel for how things take place in an actual hospital setting.
RMH used the Medication Carts for approximately 15 years before the Omnicell Medication Dispensing Units were purchased earlier this year. The carts the Nursing Program was using were significantly older, so the new carts will greatly enhance the training for the students. It will more accurately simulate an up-to-date medication distribution system.
“RMH works together with OCC and the Nursing Program on several projects and clinical work with students and faculty. Several of our nurses are past and even recent graduates of the program, so we are glad to assist in any way. It not only benefits the students to have access to better training equipment, but us as well,” comments Cindy Bailey, Chief Nursing Officer at Richland Memorial Hospital.
“IECC graduates are very high quality and they have done very well transitioning into the hospital setting. We are fortunate to have a Nursing Program such as this in Olney,” notes Bailey.
These medication carts aren’t the first donation RMH has made to the program recently. This past winter, RMH also donated a Steady-Aid Electric Sit/Stand Lift to the OCC Nursing Program.
