Home Health Care CAHPS Survey

The Home Health (Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) survey or "HHCAHPS" survey, is designed to measure the experiences of people receiving home health care from Medicare-certified home health agencies.

Richland Memorial Hospital contracts with Arbor Associates, an approved HHCAHPS vendor, to conduct its surveys by telephone. If you are contacted by an Arbor Associates surveyor, we encourage you to complete the survey to provide us with valuable feedback about your experience with our Home Health department.

The HHCAHPS survey evaluates performance in the following key areas. It is our sincere hope that we have earned the highest possible rating for each of these areas of satisfaction based on your experience:

CARE OF PATIENTS:

Providers seemed informed and up-to-date about care and treatment
Patient treated as gently as possible
Patient treated with courtesy and respect
Problems with care received through agency

COMMUNICATION BETWEEN PROVIDERS AND PATIENTS:

Patient told what care and services would be provided
Patient informed of arrival time
Providers explained things in understandable way
Providers listened carefully to patient
Patient received help or advice when contacted agency
Length of time to receive help or advice (Same day)

SPECIFIC CARE ISSUES:

Agent discussed how to setup home to move around safely
Agent discussed prescription and over-the-counter medicines
Agent asked to see all of patient's prescription and over-the-counter medicines
Providers discussed pain with patient
Providers discussed purpose of new or changed prescription medicines
Providers discussed when to take prescription medicines
Providers discussed side effects of medicines

State and National comparison data is not yet available for the HHCAHPS survey. We are still collecting baseline data. When comparison data becomes available for public viewing, we will provide a link on this section of our web site.
