She will receive the award at the 2017 Society of Urology Nurses and Associates uroLogic Conference in Chicago.
The Certification Board for Urologic Nurses and Associates is committed to improving the quality of care provided to urology patients by promoting and acknowledging the high standards of urologic nursing practice through the certification process. This certification is a tangible recognition of professional achievement and special competence in the practice of urologic care. As the recipient of this award, Connie has demonstrated her dedication to the practice of urology and her outstanding knowledge base.
“Urologic nurses in the United States from major medical centers and university practices representing all the urologic subspecialties take this exam,” Dr. Waller emphasized. “Connie reflects the caliber of the nurses we have at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital.”
In 2015, Connie attended the Society of Urology Nurses and Associates national conference to hone her urologic nursing skills. Preparation for the exam involved a yearlong self-study program covering all aspects of adult and pediatric urology. The exam also tested knowledge about specific urological disorders and cancers.
Connie expressed her appreciation for Carle Richland Memorial Hospital’s support in receiving this advanced certification and especially to Dr. Waller for her encouragement.
“Dr. Waller is a great teacher and educator. She always takes time to explain things, and she is very supportive in helping us attain our goals,” said Connie.
Connie has been employed by Carle Richland Memorial Hospital for the past twelve years. She has been in the Urology Clinic since 2012.
“I am extremely proud of Connie,” Dr. Waller said. “Our patients and our community are fortunate to have her as part of my practice.”
