In addition to internal initiatives to continuously improve quality, Carle Richland Memorial Hospital is engaged in several quality initiatives at the State and National level. Some of these include:
Illinois Surgical Improvement Collaborative (ISQIC):
This is a 3-year quality initiative involving hospitals across the State of Illinois. It is aimed toward meaningful developments in quality surgical care through significant reductions in surgical complication rates, length of stay, readmissions and other adverse events.
ACS National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP):
An initiative of the American College of Surgeons, NSQIP is the nation's largest surgical quality measurement and improvement program, currently implemented by nearly 500 hospitals in the United States to reduce surgical complications and costs associated with unnecessary complications.
Healthier Hospitals Initiative:
Among other areas of focus to lead communities toward a healthier future, one goal of this initiative is to improve patient safety by promoting use of safer chemicals in the hospital environment that do not cause or exacerbate health problems.
